European Parliament urges Turkey to open archives of 1915
The European Parliament has urged Turkey to open the archives to investigate the 1915 events, TRT Haber TV channel reported Apr.16.
This statement was made by the European Parliament immediately after urging Turkey to recognize the 1915 events as “Armenian genocide”.

Earlier, Turkish authorities, including the country’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has repeatedly said that Ankara is ready to open the archives to investigate the 1915 events. Moreover, Turkish authorities put forward the same proposal to Armenia as well. However, Armenian authorities continue to ignore this proposal.

Armenia and the Armenian lobby claim that Turkey`s predecessor, the Ottoman Empire allegedly carried out ”genocide” against the Armenians living in Anatolia in 1915. Turkey in turn has always denied "the genocide" took place. While strengthening the efforts to promote the "genocide" in the world, Armenians have achieved its recognition by the parliaments of some countries.
