Turkish opposition condemns decision of European Parliament
The opposition Republican People`s Party of Turkey (CHP) condemns the decision of the European Parliament on the 1915 events, the party leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu said, the Turkish news agency Anadolu reported Apr.16.
He said that this statement regarding Turkey is unacceptable.

Earlier, the Turkish authorities said that the country`s opposition does not react to the decision of the European Parliament.

The European Parliament urged Turkey to open the archives to investigate the 1915 events Apr.15.

Earlier, Turkish authorities, including the country’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has repeatedly said that Ankara is ready to open the archives to investigate the 1915 events. Moreover, Turkish authorities put forward the same proposal to Armenia as well. However, Armenian authorities continue to ignore this proposal.

Armenia and the Armenian lobby claim that Turkey`s predecessor, the Ottoman Empire allegedly carried out ”genocide” against the Armenians living in Anatolia in 1915. Turkey in turn has always denied "the genocide" took place. While strengthening the efforts to promote the "genocide" in the world, Armenians have achieved its recognition by the parliaments of some countries.
