Azerbaijan eyes to significantly expand aluminum production

Azerbaijan Industrial Corporation (AIC) OJSC is preparing a strategy to expand aluminum production, the general director of the AIC Kamran Nabizade told reporters on Oct. 15.

"Presently, the Ganja aluminum plant, which is on our balance sheet, produces 50,000-55,000 tons of aluminum products annually, mainly aluminum ingots and sheets. A new strategy is being prepared to increase the range of products manufactured, including the aim of expanding export potential," Nabizade said.

"The strategy in which foreign specialists are involved, includes, in particular, the development of the Ganja alumina plant, the creation of an anode block plant in perspective, and an increase in aluminum production to 100,000–110,000 tons per year," he added.

The AIC was established in November 2017. The corporation includes a number of state-owned enterprises, including those operating in the fields of agriculture, tourism, and the metallurgical industry.
