Azerbaijan is a key transit point for the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), the Vice President of Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ) JSC National Company Sanzhar Elyubayev told reporters Oct. 22 in Baku.

Elyubayev noted that Azerbaijan is not only the final point of delivery of export and import cargoes, but also an important link in the transit of goods from China to Europe, Turkey and other regions.

“In general, we highly appreciate our cooperation. All our joint initiatives are well received,” Elyubayev said.

The KTZ Vice President noted that in general, the transit of goods increased by 77 percent, the transit of containers rose by 3.3 times.

"I believe that it will continue to grow in this progression," Elyubayev said.

According to the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan, in January-September 2018, the trade turnover with Kazakhstan amounted to $169.8 million. At the same time, the export of goods to Kazakhstan amounted to $36 million, the import to $133.8 million.
