Iran holds parade on Army Day
The Iranian Army held parade on the occasion of the Army Day in capital Tehran.
The parade was held on the premises of late leader Ayatollah Rouhollah Khomeini’s mausoleum and was attended by President Hassan Rouhani.

The ceremony included aerial showoff by the Air Force fighters which exercised aerial refueling, Fars news agency reported April 18.

Also, a number of new product were unveiled during the ceremony.

The products included Baher 23mm sniper rifle, Shaher 14.4mm sniper rifle, a superlight, tactical, rough-terrain vehicle, an armed robot, and a wheeled tank named Aqareb, IRNA news agency reported April 15.

The rough-terrain vehicle is able to travel at 100 kmph on rough surfaces and at 130 kmph on gravel roads. It can also be equipped with a 12.7 mm machine gun.

The armed robot can be remotely guided and is able to carry out reconnaissance and battle operations, carry a load of 600 kilograms, and be equipped with a machine gun or defense missile.

The wheeled tank comes with a 90 mm cannon and is equipped with state-of-the-art fire control systems.

Amid growing regional tension, Iran claims its military power to have created an oasis of peace.

The Islamic Republic has frequently asserted that its military achievements serve securing the region, despite concerns by neighbor countries.
