PACE president: Dialogue between parties the only solution

According to APA’s Europe bureau, the PACE president also commented on the state of Azerbaijani refugees and IDPs in response to questions from reporters.

“Such a situation created with regard to refugees and internally displaced persons within a country is unacceptable. We must strongly condemn conflicts that hit our member countries and lead to increasing the number of refugees and IDPs. We need to demonstrate solidarity with all those who have become refugees as a result of violence and political reasons. You asked whether I have paid a visit to the monument honoring the Khojaly tragedy. I have to say I visited Azerbaijan twice last year but I do not have a meeting scheduled for the near future. But I repeat that I honor the memory of victims of violence and aggression because aggression could never be an answer. Furthermore, you brought up the issue of sanctions on Armenia. That is true, it is sometimes necessary to impose sanctions. But the foremost issue is to build dialogue and find answers. I have tried to reconcile the sides in every visit of mine to the conflicting countries. Of course, I well understand how difficult and complicated it is to achieve. But I believe it and say again that the only solution is dialogue,” Anne Brasseur stressed.
