Russian rep. to OSCE calls on Karabakh conflict sides to take additional de-escalation measures

Ceasefire is a vital prerequisite for efficiency of mediation pursued by co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group and a progress towards compromise on substantive aspects of the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, said Russia's Permanent Representative to the OSCE Alexander Lukashevich.

The Russian Permanent Mission to the OSCE has posted Lukashevich’s statement on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict on Twitter.

“On the line of contact and the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia relative stability is uphold, number of ceasefire violations goes down. We call on the sides to reinforce this positive trend with additional de-escalation measures,” the Russian diplomat said.

He noted that following a short electoral pause intensive contacts between Azerbaijan and Armenian sides resumed.

“Resultative meeting took place on sidelines of CIS summit in Dushanbe on 28 September 2018. Efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs as a collective mediator in elaboration of sustainable settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict deserve high evaluation and unreserved support,” Lukashevich added.
