Turkish president cancels meeting with historians
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan canceled the discussion of the 1915 events with historians, the Turkish Milliyet newspaper reported April 21.
The reason is the president’s busy program. The meeting with historians was to be held on April 21.

Ealier Turkish TV channel Haber7 reported that Erdogan intended to meet with historians and public figures of the country to discuss the events of 1915.

Armenia and the Armenian lobby claim that Turkey`s predecessor, the Ottoman Empire allegedly carried out ”genocide” against the Armenians living in Anatolia in 1915. Turkey in turn has always denied "the genocide" took place. While strengthening the efforts to promote the "genocide" in the world, Armenians have achieved its recognition by the parliaments of some countries.

Turkey has repeatedly said it stands ready to open archives to find out the truth about the 1915 events and called on Armenia to create a joint commission for this matter. However, Armenia ignores the offer.
