Georgian president not to attend "Armenian genocide"
President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili will not attend the commemorative events in Yerevan on April 23-24, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the "Armenian genocide" in the Ottoman Empire.
"At the time, the President of Georgia has received an official invitation to visit Yerevan on April 23-24. Through diplomatic channels the Armenian colleagues were informed that during this period, the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko will be in Georgia on an official visit and President Margvelashvili will meet him", counsellor of Georgian President for International Affairs Tengiz Pkhaladze said.

Previously, members of the Georgian government did not confirm the information that the Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili will visit Armenia on April 23-24.

Last week Georgian parliament did not address the issue of "Armenian genocide" by MP from Akhalkalaki area Samvel Petrosyan.

On the application of independent experts, Georgia does not recognize the "Armenian genocide" because of the unwillingness to worsen relations with neighboring countries.
