Azerbaijan wants to attract Indian tourists

The Azerbaijan Tourism Association (AzTA) is working to attract tourists from India to Azerbaijan, AzTA Chairman Nahid Baghirov told on Dec. 18.

Baghirov noted that AzTA is currently negotiating with various Indian companies.

"The association took the initiative of filming scenes of an Indian film in Baku. It will be a big advertisement for Azerbaijan when the film is released. India is a big country and advertising through cinema will become a more effective method of demonstrating the capabilities of Azerbaijan. Such films will also affect the increase in the flow of tourists from India," Baghirov said.

Baghirov noted that presently, Azerbaijan is interesting for filmmakers, because one can find elements of such cities as Paris, London, Dubai, etc. in the Azerbaijani capital.

"We are also working on attracting video bloggers to Azerbaijan, in particular from Arab countries that have large audiences on social networks," he added.

Speaking about priorities for 2019, Baghirov underlined the active participation in the Indian market, as well as making efforts to maintain the Arab market.

As for the districts of Azerbaijan that are popular among tourists, Baghirov noted that the main influx of tourists is observed in Gabala.

He emphasized that Azerbaijan is a very safe country, and political and economic stability play an important role in attracting tourists to the country.
