“I call on countries that support the Armenians to clear the mess in their own histories. The last countries to speak of genocide are Germany, Russia and France. What happened during the two world wars that had been initiated by Germany in the past century is before our eyes,” Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Saturday, Anadolu Agency reported.
The Turkish president noted that only two heads of state joined the commemorative event dedicated to the 100th centenary of the made-up Armenian genocide, whereas the events held in Canakkale were attended by the presidents of 20 countries.
“We would not like Putin and Hollande to visit Armenia. 20 presidents were present in Canakkale, while only two chose to be in Yerevan. The European Union shall not teach us what to do; it’s them that need it. They call for us to open our archives. And we have been saying for 15 years that we are ready to open our archives. They have ears that do not hear, eyes that do not see, and tongues that do not speak the truth,” said Erdogan.
