President Aliyev believes EU will give priority to strategic partnership with Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan is increasing its role in the supply of energy carriers. We have created a new energy map in the region.

President Ilham Aliyev made an opening speech at the 3rd Global Forum that started in Baku on April 28. The forum has been organized by the Azerbaijani State Committee for Work with Diaspora and the Nizami Ganjavi International Center.

The head of state said that not only Azerbaijan’s energy resources, but also the energy resources in the east of the Caspian Sea would be brought to the world markets through this infrastructure.

TANAP project has been already launched, then the TAP project will be executed. Bulgaria will be a part of Azerbaijan`s energy policy. I am sure that the Balkan countries will join our projects in the future. Azerbaijan has vast energy resources, these projects must be completed by 2018-2019. Baku hosted the meeting of the Advisory Council in this regard,” President Aliyev noted.

The head of state said the diversification of energy supply should be regarded as a matter of national security.

“Azerbaijan is the only natural energy source for Europe. We don’t say that we are competing with other energy suppliers. Azerbaijan will attend the Riga Summit next month. We have signed agreements on cooperation in the energy sector with 7 member states of the European Union. I believe that European Union will give priority to cooperation with different countries in a variety of formats, including the format of a strategic partnership with Azerbaijan,” President Aliyev stressed.
