An application to the CEC in connection with registration as a presidential candidate will be submitted in the near future, Zurabishvili told Rustavi 2 TV company today.

"Our country needs a new president," she said. "I want to use my experience, background and knowledge for the benefit of the country now, because I think the country needs it."

Zurabishvili said that there are no legal barriers that may prevent her from running for the post.
