“One person can nominate his/her candidacy from 10 constituencies, but is registered in one”

Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Rovzat Gasimov commented on social media claims regarding the registration of one person's candidacy in several election constituencies. In his remarks, Gasimov told secki-2020.az that any person can refuse his/her application and move to another election constituency at the stage of nomination.

He noted that despite this fact, all information on that issue are placed on the website of the Election Information Center in order to ensure statistical transparency and provide public with information about it: “However, it does not mean that the same person is registered as a candidate from two constituencies. One person can nominate his/her candidacy from 10 constituencies, but is registered in one”.

Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission noted that these misunderstandings stem from inattention to statistical data on candidates.
