Azerbaijan reports 1st cases of UK COVID-19 strain

Azerbaijan reports 1st cases of UK COVID-19 strain

Sars Cov-2 genomes are regularly analyzed in samples, taken from persons entered Azerbaijan from abroad and living in the country and suspected variants are followed, AzVision.az reports citing the Institute of Hematology and Transfusiology of Azerbaijan.

501Y.V1, B.1.1.7 (Britain variant) has been detected in three samples during Sars Cov-2 genome analysis in the Genetic Diagnostic Center of the Institute of Hematology and Transfusiology of Azerbaijan.

Note, "Coronavac" vaccine that is used against COVID-19 in Azerbaijan is also effective against new strains.
