Baku condemns use of chemical weapons in Syria
Azerbaijan strongly condemns the use and implementation of all forms of chemical weapons in Syria, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry`s report in relation to the use of chemical weapons in Syria said on Tuesday.
"We express gratitude to the UN mission, which investigated the use of chemical weapons in Syria, for its work in complex political conditions and in the absence of security, as well as for its professionalism," the statement of the Foreign Ministry said.
Azerbaijan supports the agreement between the U.S. and Russia on the elimination of chemical weapons in Syria.

"For a political solution of the Syrian crisis, Azerbaijan is ready to work together with all interested sides in the UN, including the UN Security Council. It is expected that in the near future the Executive Council of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons will consider special procedures for the destruction of chemical weapons in Syria and the establishment of strict control over it and the corresponding decision will be taken," the statement said.

The statement of the Foreign Ministry also said that Azerbaijan recognizes the UN Security Council as the body responsible for the maintenance of peace and security in the world, and considers the execution of its decision and resolutions as necessary.
