  Global Baku Forum opens up opportunity to discuss most urgent issues, ex-Latvian president says

The Global Baku Forum provides an opportunity to discuss the most urgent issues on the world agenda, Co-Chair of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center, former President of Latvia Vaira Vike-Freiberga said at the opening of the 8th Global Baku Forum.

Vike-Freiberga expressed gratitude to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for holding the event, which allows discussing essential world issues with the participation of guests from around 40 countries.

The former Latvian president underlined the importance of combating climate change, a challenge for all of humanity.

She said that from this point of view, the discussions held at the forum are also of particular importance.

The 8th Global Baku Forum of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center started in Baku today.

The forum is attended by delegates from about 40 countries - former heads of state and government, politicians, political scientists, experts, public figures, leaders and representatives of international and non-governmental organizations. Eleven panel sessions will be held within the forum, which will last until November 6.
