Putin, Scholz discuss Russian-Ukrainian talks

Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz exchanged views on the recent round of the Russian-Ukrainian talks, which was held in Istanbul on Tuesday, in their telephone conversation, the Kremlin said in a statement on Wednesday, AzVision.az reports citing TASS.

"Vladimir Putin and Olaf Scholz exchanged views concerning another round of talks between Russian and Ukrainian representatives, which was held in Istanbul yesterday," the statement says.

In addition, they touched upon "the safe evacuation of civilians from the areas of hostilities, primarily from Mariupol."

Russia and Ukraine entered into negotiations on February 28. Several rounds of talks took place in Belarus, but then were continued via video link. On March 29, another face-to-face meeting was held in Turkey’s Istanbul.
