Former Armenian president’s son detained during protests in Yerevan

The Armenian police started to arrest participants of the mass protests that began in Yerevan this morning.

Dozens of politicians, activists, as well as Levon Kocharyan, the son of Armenia’s ex-president Robert Kocharyan, were apprehended by the police, AzVision.az reports citing Armenian media.

Levon Kocharyan was live on Facebook from a police car after being detained.

“They tried to do it in a rude and impudent manner. The answer will not be long in coming,” he said.

The day before, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Ishkhan Saghatelyan said that streets would be blocked and traffic in the capital would be paralyzed. He urged public sector workers, students to inform their employers and teachers that they would not go to work, to classes and join the opposition's fight.
