Opposition leaders house arrest in Iran politically motivated
House arrest of opposition leaders Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi in Iran is an issue which is politically-motivated, the Justice Minister Mostafa Pourmohammadi said.
He added that the issue cannot be investigated, either by the administration or by the judiciary system, ISNA news agency reported September 2.

House arrest is not a legal or juridical issue, it is a political and security issue, he stressed.

Therefore, the administration cannot outline the issue of house arrest using legal and juridical principles, he noted.

Karroubi and Mousavi have been under house arrest since 2011 due to protests against the disputed presidential election of 2009.
