Large rally raises pressure on Moldovan government over banking scandal- VIDEO
Some 20,000 people took to the streets of Chisinau on Sunday, protesting against Moldova"s government for the eighth straight day.
Protesters came from all political spheres to demand the resignation of the president, the general prosecutor, the national bank governor and others.

“Yes, the people woke up and firmly decided to get their country back, to get this money back and bring to justice the guilty ones,” said a leader of the civil platform “Dignity and Justice”, Valentin Dolganiuc.

The money is an estimated 1.32 billion euros that disappeared from three Moldovan banks, bailed out with public funds.

Several hundred people have been camped out in the centre of the capital since early September in protest. Campaigners also want
an early election and to form a new political party.

“We want radical changes in Moldova. We want our country to function according to different rules. Today Moldova is captured by criminal oligarchs. We want to get rid of them,” said one man.

“All these people deserve a better life. We came out to fight for our future, for a better life,” said one woman.

There were a few scuffles but the protest was mostly peaceful. these are the biggest protest Moldova has ever seen; hardly surprising when roughly one-eighth of your country’s GDP has been stolen.
