FM Bayramov discusses Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process and regional situation with US official

On August 3, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received the US Department of State's Senior Advisor for Caucasus Negotiations, Louis Bono, AzVision.az reports.

The meeting focused on the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the current situation in the region, the current state and prospects of negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Bayramov drew attention to the fact that Armenia, contrary to its obligations, does not fully withdraw the Armenian armed detachments from the territories of Azerbaijan, continues its claims against the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, and obstructs the opening of communications. The mentioned issues do not serve peace and stability in the region.

At the same time, Bayramov emphasized that the allegations that Azerbaijan is blocking Armenian residents and that the border checkpoint in Lachin is “illegitimate” are unfounded. Taking into account Armenia's provocations on the Lachin road and the border checkpoint, it was once again emphasized that Azerbaijan's proposal to use the Aghdam-Khankandi road to help Armenian residents remains valid.

It was also stated that the intervention of Armenia in the efforts of the Azerbaijani side to reintegrate the Armenian residents is unacceptable.

The parties also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
