  Georgian parliament vice-speaker calls Azerbaijan’s presidential election ‘historic event’

The February 7 snap presidential election in Azerbaijan is a historic event, Vice-Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Archil Talakvadze told journalists in Baku, AzVision.az reports.

A Georgian parliamentary delegation headed by Vice Speaker Talakvadze observed Azerbaijan’s presidential election at the polling station No. 9 of the Sabail constituency No. 7.

The Georgian delegation viewed the conditions created for voters at the polling station.

“Despite the early hours of the voting, the voter turnout is quite high. I wish the people of Azerbaijan success in the presidential election. Today’s presidential election is a historic event as it is held on the entire territory of Azerbaijan after the country’s restoration of its sovereignty,” he said.

“I wish Azerbaijan peace and tranquility. Peace and tranquility in Azerbaijan is in the interest of Georgia, it is in the interest of the entire region,” Vice Speaker Talakvadze added.
