Organized by the Shusha City State Reserve Department, “The Days of Shusha” have been held in the city of Khiva, sister city to Shusha.
As part of the events, Special Representative of the Azerbaijani President in Shusha district Aydin Karimov met with mayor of Khiva city Temur Davletov to discuss further reinforcing of relations between the two sister cities, and developing relations in the domains of science, culture and innovation.
Aydin Karimov then toured the Itchan Kala, the walled old city located in the heart of Khiva.
The Azerbaijani delegation, comprised of Aydin Karimov, Special Representative of the Azerbaijani President in Shusha district, as well as Tural Novruzov, Executive Director of the Shusha City State Reserve Department and Elshad Iskandarov, Chief Advisor of the Special Representative Office, also met with Bakhrom Abdullaev, Rector of Urgench State University.
First, the Azerbaijani delegation was informed about the establishment of the Center of Azerbaijani Culture and Literature named after Yusif Vazir Chamanzaminli, Azerbaijani poet, writer, playwright, and public figure, who worked as a teacher at this university in 1938-1940. Aydin Karimov provided an insight into the ongoing construction and restoration works in the historical city of Shusha.
The meeting was followed by a mini concert performed by students of the Urgench State University.
"The Days of Shusha" continued with a number of attractive events in "Itchan Kala", including the photo exhibition entitled "Shusha - yesterday and today" and a concert program, attended by diplomats of various countries, Khiva and Azerbaijani officials.
Azerbaijan’s Shusha and Uzbekistan’s Khiva cities have been sister cities since 2023.
