Azerbaijan, OIC discuss current agenda of cooperation

On September 28, within the framework of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hessein Brahim Taha, AzVision.az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

The meeting discussed the current agenda of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the OIC, as well as the country's partnership opportunities at the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that Azerbaijan always attaches great importance to the development of relations with fraternal and friendly countries, and in this regard, the country is always ready to further expand cooperation within the OIC.

As one of the active members of the OIC, Azerbaijan’s contribution to cooperation within the organization and strengthening of the OIC activities was noted with satisfaction.

The Minister briefed the other side in detail on the preparations carried out within the framework of the COP29 presidency, the negotiation process, the priorities and initiatives of the presidency, and said that Azerbaijan's presidency is focused on involving financial resources in efforts to combat climate change.

Considering the importance of combating the threat of climate change for OIC countries, it was conveyed that Azerbaijan is ready to cooperate within the framework of COP29.

During the meeting, an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest also took place.
