Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the 29th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29), Seyidov emphasized that the recent events in PACE were not initiated by Azerbaijan. "They demonstrated a biased approach towards Azerbaijan," the deputy stressed, noting that the Council of Europe consists of not only PACE, but also the Committee of Ministers, the European Court of Human Rights, and other structures.
Seyidov expressed satisfaction with the PACE Secretary General's visit to Azerbaijan. "The sooner they understand that they are abusing common values within the organization to pressure countries and take biased steps against them, the sooner the crisis in PACE can find its resolution," he said.
The deputy affirmed that Azerbaijan is ready to cooperate with all international organizations, but only if the country's national interests are ensured and on the basis of mutual respect.
"These are very simple principles. Unfortunately, in today's world, adhering to them has become a difficult task for some organizations," Seyidov noted. He added that certain individuals, structures, and states in PACE have chosen this path, leading to the current crisis.
"If they resolve these issues, Azerbaijan has always been and will be ready for cooperation and establishing ties," Seyidov concluded.
