Green energy accounts for 15% of Ukraine’s energy sector

‘Ukraine continues to introduce green technologies despite the war. It used to be a matter for large businesses, while individuals have started preferring green technologies. There are even concessional loans allocated for the field’, says economist Oleksandr Okhrimenko to AzVision.az.

He explains that the Ukrainian state purchases the energy generated from the sun, wind, etc. at a set price: ‘Which is why green technologies are quite profitable in Ukraine. Even private individuals can sell green energy to the state without having to register a company. Green energy already accounts for 15% in Ukraine. There are many programs within the European Union that allow applying for grants and loans for green technologies. The most actively developed projects nowadays are hydroelectric power plants, smart homes, etc.’
