  Kenyan Prime Cabinet Secretary highlights importance of decisions taken under Azerbaijan’s leadership at COP29

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Kenya Sultan Hajiyev met with Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Kenya Musalia Mudavadi.

During the meeting, the sides hailed the rapid development of relations between the two countries, emphasizing that the visits scheduled for this year would significantly contribute to leveraging the potential of bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi fondly recalled his visits to Azerbaijan, stressing the importance of the important decisions taken under Azerbaijan’s leadership at COP29, which he had also attended.

Musalia Mudavadi noted the significance of making the most of the existing opportunities to enhance bilateral cooperation. He said that Kenya is interested in applying Azerbaijan's digital solutions and innovative achievements in public services, including establishing cooperation between "ASAN Xidmet" and his country's Huduma citizen-centered service delivery organization. The Kenyan Prime Cabinet Secretary also pointed out wide opportunities for attracting investments and boosting trade relations, adding that strengthening cooperation between small and medium-sized businesses is of great importance in this regard.

Ambassador Sultan Hajiyev underlined that Azerbaijan will host the 13th Session of the UN World Urban Forum (WUF13) and the World Environment Day (WED2026) in 2026, He emphasized that the close cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kenya within the framework of WUF13 could significantly contribute to a global partnership.

Musalia Mudavadi stressed Kenya's readiness to maintain close collaboration within the framework of the WUF13 to support Azerbaijan's activities on the interaction of sustainable urban development and climate change processes, and building linkages between the COP-WUF platforms.

The meeting also highlighted the recent humanitarian assistance provided by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Azerbaijan International Development Agency (AIDA) to several educational and medical facilities in Kenya. Mudavadi expressed his gratitude for the humanitarian assistance provided, describing this as an indicative of sincere friendship and cooperation between the parties.
