Former Armenian School Head Charged for Violence against Students
Armenia`s Investigative Committee has completed preliminary investigation in the criminal case over offenses, including abuse of authority, recorded at the "Byureghavan Boarding School for Child Care and Protection" SNCO. Gayane Margaryan, the school`s former headmaster who was charged and arrested for squandering and large-scale embezzlement in November 2014, is now facing new charges of violent conduct against students.
In the period 2004-2014, as previously stated by authorities, Margaryan admitted more than two dozen employees to work at the boarding school who did not actually implement any work, and squandered the money proved by the state to the SNCO in the name of the above-mentioned “employees.”

In addition, preliminary investigation found that “in the period 2010-2014, Margaryan subjected up to 14 `troublesome` students to violence” during various school events in the course of the educational process, the Committee statement read. “In the light of this newly acquired evidence, Gayane Margaryan is now facing new charges of infliction of severe physical or mental pain or suffering upon two or more minors.”
