Afghan Taliban Leader Mullah Mansour Dies of Injuries
"Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mansour died of injuries," Sultan Faizy posted to his Twitter page.
Earlier this week, media reports suggested that Mansour had been seriously injured in a gunfight during a meeting with Taliban`s senior commanders in Pakistan.
Mansour became the leader of the Afghan Taliban, an Islamist movement, in summer 2015 after an announcement by Mullah Omar, the founder of the Afghan Taliban.
The Taliban is a violent religious extremist group founded in the 1990s seeking to impose sharia law in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The group is notorious for many deadly terrorist attacks against authorities and civilians.
