The 82-year-old singer faces tax fraud charges for failing to declare her income from concerts.
Barcelona Prosecutor`s Office accuses Caballé of tax evasion in the amount of 500,000 euros. The investigation revealed that she opened a bank account in Andorra to avoid paying tax.
The court fined Caballé 225,000 euros. Besides, she won’t be able to get discounts and subsidies from the state budget within six months. Due to her poor health, she failed to attend the court hearing. Appeared in the court by video-conference, the singer confessed her guilt.
