Turkey`s decision to shoot down Russia`s military jet is huge mistake - President
The decision to shoot down the Russian military jet was wrong, President of Kyrgyzstan, Almazbek Atambayev told at a press conference on December 24.
“I know the President of Turkey regrets about that,” President Atambayev stated.

Turkey needs to admit it was wrong, President Atambayev added and expressed hope that the Russian side will be wise enough to forgive it.

“This action undermined the relations that have been built for y ears. The Turkish side needs to think and to admit it was wrong,” President Atambayev repeated.

The President called it “a huge mistake.” “We see the television channels of Russia and Turkey fall into hysterics at times. We discussed that with Vladimir Putin,” he said.

The President said Kyrgyzstan had cases when aircrafts intruded into the territory of the country not for 17 seconds but for hours. “We did not shoot them down since peace was more important for me. Both sides will be affected in such case,” the President declared.

President Atambayev said Kazakhs, Turkmens, Tatars live in Turkey. “Sometimes it is necessary just to stand. I have to do that often, it is more important. Of course, I openly expressed my opinion to Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan. I want these countries to achieve conflict resolution. Perhaps, some steps should be made by the Turkish side,” President Atambayev underlined.
