For many years, reports on consistent overcoming of poverty were vigorously made in Armenia. Of course, many people doubted this because of personal experience. And they were most probably right. A number of economic indexes for the last year directly indicate the widening of poverty scale in the country. One of the main reasons is the significant drop in the number of private remittances from Russia.
Reduction of monetary incomes of the significant part of the republic`s population impacted the dynamics of retail commodity turnover both in comparative and current prices. This factor also affected such spheres as public transport and telecommunication.
Import of food products also significantly decreased. Consequently, tax incomes of state budget also suffered noticeable loss.
Apart from this, migration of the population also had an impact on the turnover reduction in different sectors of economy. But, nevertheless, the most important factor was the reduction of remittances.
