List of 17 political prisoners handed over to CoE Commissioner in Armenia
Relatives of those involved in trial on Shant Harutyunyan`s case on Sunday met with Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Nils Muiznieks.

They talked to the Commissioner, presenting him details of the case, Harutyunyan`s ex-wife told reporters on Monday.

“I spoke about 15-year-old Shahen [Harutyunyan`s son], and the Commissioner told me he should not be held accountable at all. I understood that he is well aware of the case,” Ruzanna Badalyan said, adding that Nils Muiznieks promised to follow the trial.

A list of 17 political prisoners was handed over to the Council of Europe Commissioner.

The United National Initiative leader and activist Shant Harutyunyan announced starting a revolution, on November 5, 2013. Together with close to several dozen supporters wearing Guy Fawkes “Anonymous masks”, he started a march toward the Presidential Palace, but the police had stopped the march.

As a result, there was a scuffle and explosions, and the police detained 38 activists. Subsequently, criminal charges were laid against fourteen of them, including Harutyunyan and his 15-year-old son Shahen.
