Police sources told Anadolu Agency that a car laden with about 150 kg of explosives was found in front of Hurriyet Primary School, about 50 meters from the regional government office in the Diyarbakir province’s Hani district.
A ceremony marking Martyrs Remembrance Day and the 101st anniversary of the Battle of Canakkale was scheduled to be held Friday in the government office.
A bomb team successfully defused the explosive.
The news comes five days after a suicide car bomb attack claimed by PKK terrorist organization targeted Turkish capital Ankara`s central transportation hub, killing 35 people and wounding scores of others.
The governor’s office has yet to issue a statement on the incident.
Sources said that an investigation to find the perpetrators continues.
