The Metsamor nuclear power plant in Armenia is a real threat to the region, in particular to Turkey, the TRT Haber news channel quoted Turkey`s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Berat Albayrak as saying Apr. 28.
The minister pointed out that the Metsamor nuclear power plant can`t be reconstructed, as it was built over 40 years ago.

The Metsamor nuclear power plant was built in 1970. It was closed after the devastating earthquake in Spitak in 1988. But despite the international protests, the power plant`s operation was resumed in 1995. Moreover, a second reactor was launched there.
