Georgia expects additional cheaper gas from TAP
Georgia expects increase of investing, strengthening of energy security, stable tariffs and additional gas from TAP, Deputy Energy Minister of Georgia Mariam Valishvili said in her interview to Kommersant newspaper.
She said two compressor stations will be built in the territory of Georgia within the project: “Because Baku-Erzurum gas pipeline will be used within the TAP. The procurements will cost $400 mln. About 1,000 persons are expected to join these works”.

As for gas tariffs, Valishvili noted that price policy of the project has already been agreed: “Our cooperation with Shahdeniz consortium will continue. The difference is that we purchase only 5% or 300 mln cubic meters of gas passing through our country in concessional price. This figure will increase to 800 mcm after TAP is launched. This will ensure our country’s energy security for long years”.
