“The repair process, which usually run 25 and 30 days, may now take a long period. Note that before the repair works, the Oil Refinery could meet the domestic demand for AI-92 gasoline. As of August 16, average daily consumption across the country made 3,900 tonnes and this volume of gasoline was met by reserves. However, the reserves are sufficient for 8-10 days. Taking into account that the gasoline reserves in the Oil Refinery will not meet demand from now, SOCAR appealed to the Cabinet of Ministers to exempt AI-92 gasoline, to be imported for meeting the demand, from customs duty and excise tax”.
According to information, SOCAR’s appeal aimed to minimize the financial losses during the repair works: “Because, the gasoline price in the domestic market is regulated by the state and will be remain unchanged. Price of imported gasoline changes depending on oil price in the world market. So, the Cabinet’s decisions serve to prevent problems in the domestic market. 4,000 tonnes of oil will be imported soon. The import will last till the refinery will start to operate”.
