Avaz Zeynalli congratulated all the prisoners who were pardoned and wished other prisoners freedom.
Deputy Head of Justice Ministry`s Penitentiary Service Huseyn Alikhanov said at the ceremony of the pardon order execution that the order applied to 87 persons overall; three people were exempt from correctional work, and five people were exempt from the penalty of a fine. He noted since 1995, 6025 prisoners have been released from the unserved part of their prison sentence.
H. Alikhanov mentioned that those persons are freed upon serious investigation by the Pardon Commission. “Very few of those who are pardoned commit crimes later. And it shows that they justify our hopes”, he added.
Under the presidential order on pardon, 10 prisoners were freed from the Correctional Facility #6. The order execution was carried out in the presence of journalists.
