SOCAR may purchase 25% of GOGC
If the Georgian Oil & Gas Corporation (GOGC) formally sells 25% of its shares, we’ll consider it, SOCAR-Georgia’s Director General Mahir Mammadov told AzVision.az.
“We have information that GOGC sells 25% of its shares. However, no formal steps have been taken. If it’s put up for sale formally, we’ll consider it”, Mammadov said.

Remind that Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili said 25% of GOGC may be sold.

Today, Armenian Joxovurd newspaper reported that sale of shares will be negative for the Armenia: “SOCAR’s acquisition of these shares is dangerous for Armenia. Azerbaijani side may hinder operation of pipeline transporting gas from Georgia to Azerbaijan”

Georgian MP David Chichinadze told the newspaper that it’s to early to speak about the potential buyers: “SOCAR has not any gas or transport corridor in Georgia, therefore such probability is too low”.

Then, the newspaper gives its readers a rhetorical question: “What does the Armenian ambassador to Georgia do?” and the author itself answers: “According to the information we got, the ambassador Yuri Vardanyan visits foreign countries due to his health. Therefore, we tried Armenian and Georgian PMs to comment on the issue, but our efforts failed”.
