Thomas de Waal supports Armenian Civil Sector representatives` arrival in Baku
`The Armenian Civil Sector representatives` arrival in Baku has no relation with politics and it is a positive factor. Any dialogue and exchange of views between Baku and Yerevan must be supported`, famous British political scientist, senior associate of Carnegie and the author of `Black Garden` on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Thomas de Waal told to in an interview to Haqqin.az, AzVision.az reports.

`The existing problems between Armenia and Azerbaijan should not lead to intense hatred between the two nations`, he added.

De Vaal noted that in the late nineties, NGO representatives and journalists of the both sides kept holding intensive meetings during Heydar Aliyev’s presidency. And it created a firm background for the settlement of the Karabakh conflict. However such measures out of the leader’s will do not give expected result.

`The more parties of the conflict listen to each other, the more they realize the criteria of possible measures. These dialogues seek for compromising ways to deal with the situation. Today dialogue is important, as the military activities are likely to begin in future. And in such a situation, public diplomacy holds peacekeeping function`, Thomas de Waal emphasized.
