"Why is that only snipers should withdraw from the line of contact? What about other military equipment, including military vehicles, mortars, grenade launchers, etc.?"
The idea of sniper withdrawal from the contact line of troops is a “fruit” of a sick imagination of Armenia, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said in a statement, while commenting on Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan’s statements on the removal of snipers from the contact line.
The ministry said there are still international organizations that agree with this idea.
“The question is: “Why is that only snipers should withdraw from the line of contact? What about other military equipment, including military vehicles, mortars, grenade launchers, etc.? Suppose that, if such an agreement is reached, how will its implementation be monitored? Who can guarantee that the Armenian side, which is characterized by its treacherous behavior and fires on children, women, older people and objects without military value, will fulfill the agreement this time?,” the statement said.
The Defense Ministry said immediate and unconditional withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from occupied territories of Azerbaijan in accordance with the norms and principles of international law is the only way to solve the problem.(apa)
