He noted that the period of freightage from China to the European countries such as England, France, Germany in the South corridor and the North corridor, including sea, currently makes up 45-62 days: “The same cargo will be transported to EU countries via BTK through the middle corridor within 12-15 days”.
The Turkish president said that more than 240 million tonnes of cargos are currently transported from China to Europe: “Even if 10 percent of these cargos are transported through middle corridor, 24 million tonnes of cargos will have been transported in additional. The period of transportation via BTK, which is 30-45 days less than other routes, will be more useful for carriers.
I believe that BTK is sufficient to turn the middle corridor transport line into a significant part of the historical Silk Road. Along with this, we think that other transport projects we are working on in the region have a strengthening character.
At the same time, this project will improve peace, security, stability and social welfare and contribute to globally development of our countries”.

“Today, the first train is being launched on Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railroad, which is of great importance for Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia and whole region. Thus, we are declaring establishment of direct railroad connection from London to China through middle corridor”, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in his interview to APA, Trend and Azertac.
