Independent Media Center under Azerbaijani Central Election Commission opens in Baku

The opening ceremony of Independent Media Center “Election-2018” of the Central Election Commission (CEC) has been held in connection with the presidential election scheduled for April 11 in Azerbaijan.

Chairman of Central Election Commission Mazahir Panahov, CEC members and representatives of its Secretariat attended the event.

The main purpose of the establishment of the Center is to provide broad, operational and objective coverage of the elections, as well as assist local and international mass media representatives in obtaining information about the elections in order to ensure transparency in the elections. Computers, telephones and fax machines are installed in he center for media representatives and they can benefit from free and unlimited Internet access.

The Independent Media Center which is planned to operate during the entire day, is open for holding press conferences. 

Candidates registered for presidential election in Azerbaijan may publish their pre-election campaign materials on www.secki-2018.az website operating in russian, english and azerbaijani languages. This page provides opinions, and statements by authorized persons and experts regarding the election process, as well as photo and video footage on elections.
