Cargo transportation via TRACECA increases
The volume of cargo transported via the Eurasian transport corridor through Azerbaijan?`s territory this January increased by 4.5 percent. Revenues increased by 12 percent.
Azerbaijanв`s State Statistical Committee said in its report on January-February 2015, that 4.8 million metric tons were transported via Azerbaijan, which is 4.5 percent more than in the same period of 2014.

The road transport accounted for 51.5 percent of the total volume of transported cargo, railway `" 32.5 percent and maritime transport `" 16 percent, the report said.

Moreover, 26.9 million people were transported within the corridor in January, which is 8 percent more than in the same period of 2014.

The revenues from the cargo transportation via the corridor totaled 44.5 million Azerbaijani manats, or 12.8 percent more than in January 2014. This is while the revenues from the passenger transportation in January stood at 10 million manats, or 14.9 percent more than in January 2014.

TRACECA is an international transport program involving the European Union and 14 member-states of the Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia regions. It includes Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Iran, Moldova, Romania, Turkey, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.

The program has a permanent Secretariat, financed by the European Commission, in Baku, Azerbaijan, and a regional office in Odessa, Ukraine. Since 2009 the organization has been entirely financed by its member countries.
