Azerbaijan SCC’s activity aims at creation of attractive investment environment

General strategy of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan is aimed at creating an attractive investment and trade environment in the country, Chairman of the SCC Safar Mehdiyev said at the international conference of the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) in Baku May 2.

"The customs authorities of Azerbaijan, which play an important role in protecting the domestic market and stimulating local production and exports, continue to improve from year to year. The general strategy of the customs service of Azerbaijan is aimed at establishing a more attractive trade and investment environment in the country by creating a favorable opportunity for the development of trade in the region, ensuring the security of the international trade chain and stimulating foreign economic activity," Mehdiyev said.

The chairman of the SCC said the customs authorities of Azerbaijan, which have perfect material, technical and regulatory bases, the most modern infrastructure and information and communication technologies, are constantly expanding their international relations.

"The State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan successfully conducts fiscal policy in the country and protects economic well-being and security. At the same time, being a law enforcement agency, the SCC continues to take measures to strengthen the fight against smuggling and other offenses," Mehdiyev said.

The head of the SCC noted that the simplification of trade procedures leads to the development of the economy, increase of export potential and strengthening of international competitiveness, for which, in turn, it is important to have strong and reliable cooperation between customs and businesses in the country.

"From this point of view, the application of the authorized economic operators program and the "green corridor" system in the country are the most important steps taken. I hope that today's conference will contribute to the development of cooperation between customs authorities and business structures," Mehdiyev said.
