Azerbaijani army fully ready and able to fulfill any command – defense minister

"The Azerbaijani Army is fully ready and able to any command in terms of comprehensive reforms conducted in recent years under the leadership of Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev", said Azerbaijan’s Defense Minister, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov.

Zakir Hasanov watched a series of field exercises of various units. Besides, Hasanov observed the practical firing conducted in a sniper training center and checked the readiness of motorized rifle, tank and artillery units.

Following the exercises, Hasanov held a meeting with journalists.

"The Azerbaijani Army possesses the most advanced missile and artillery systems capable of destroying any enemy target", Defense Minister, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov said in his meeting with journalists.

Hasanov noted that the Azerbaijani army is provided with new types of weapons and military equipment thanks to the measures taken by Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev.

“We modernized all combat vehicles and purchased new tanks, new combat, and armored vehicles,” said the minister, adding that all this equipment will be demonstrated at a military parade scheduled for June 26.

"The Azerbaijani army possesses the most advanced missile and artillery systems capable of destroying any target of the enemy. These missiles, which will be demonstrated at the upcoming parade, were checked by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief a few days ago," he added.

In addition, Zakir Hasanov touched on the liberation of Gunnut village:"Thanks to the successful operation of the Azerbaijani army in Nakhchivan, 11,000 hectares of the territory have been liberated from the Armenian occupation".

The minister noted that a very successful operation was carried out in Nakhchivan.

"Now the Azerbaijani army also controls the road leading to Lachin. This is our another success," Hasanov said.

He stressed that the goal is to prepare the army for real combat. "Today, the Azerbaijani army is able to liberate the occupied territories," the minister said.

As a result of successful actions, the village of Gunnut of the Sharur district and the strategic heights of Khunut (2,065 meters), Gyzylgaya (1,683 meters), and Mehridag (1,869 meters), located around the village, came under the control of Azerbaijani units.

Moreover, Hasanov called media representatives not to hurry and to be sensitive while reporting the deaths of soldiers.

"Let's wait for the results of the investigation. We never hide soldier deaths. Reporting in haste simply must not be allowed,” the minister added.
