“Break Stereotypes” – Young European Ambassadors of Azerbaijan organized training

On the occasion of 10 December – World Human Rights Day, the Young European Ambassadors Network of Azerbaijan organized a training session titled “Break Stereotypes”.

The project aimed to give participants a better understanding of human rights within the context of disability and measures to integrate them into a society.

“I believe, this project was very helpful to increase young people’s level of knowledge about disability, the ways of avoiding use of stigmas and ethical behaviours towards them. Hope, these people will spread the main message of the training within their peer groups”, Young European Ambassador from Azerbaijan and project initiator Turkan Mammadli said.

The experienced social worker Sanubar Heydarova and young activist Samir Panaliyev delivered the session.

This event took place on 70th anniversary of the Human Rights Declaration on 10 December and represented the idea of promotion of a more inclusive society without any stereotypes.

‘Young European Ambassadors’ (YEAs) initiative aims at fostering cooperation and sustainable links between young people and youth organisations from the European Union (EU) Member States and the Eastern Neighbourhood countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.

The network is primarily an online platform that facilitates the mutual exchange of ideas and information on the EU, as well as promotes engagement of young people in outreach action. It focuses on people-to-people contact and dialogue-driven activities that will contribute to an enhanced understanding and perception of the EU and a greater appreciation of its relationships with the Eastern Neighbourhood.
