  Azerbaijan’s Mariya Stadnik becomes two-time world wrestling champion

Azerbaijani female wrestler Mariya Stadnik has become a two-time world champion after claiming gold at the World Championships in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.

She secured the title in the women’s 50kg weight class thanks to a 13-0 win over Romanian Emilia Alina Vuc.

On the way to the final, Stadnik beat Nigerian Miesinnei Mercy Genesis, Indian Seema Seema, Russian Ekaterina Poleshchuk and Chinese Yanan Sun.
