Iran expresses readiness to play active role in settling Karabakh conflict

Iranian President’s Chief of Staff Mahmoud Vaezi said Tehran is ready to play a more active role in resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, AzVision.az reports.

In a telephone conversation with Azerbaijan's Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev on Wednesday, Vaezi emphasized that Tehran welcomes Baku's offer on playing a more active role of Iran, Russia and Turkey in maintaining peace and stability in the region.

Welcoming the declaration of a ceasefire between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Vaezi called on the countries to resolve their differences through dialogue and within the framework of international law and respect for the recognized borders and territorial integrity of the two countries.

Mustafayev, in turn, provided information about the current situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. The deputy prime minister said Baku is interested in developing comprehensive bilateral ties.
